7 Things to Know Before Going Wedding Dress Shopping!

Wedding dress shopping is usually one of the most popular wedding task that brides look forward to. We have all seen shows like Say Yes To the Dress and you have it all planned out on how your perfect day will go. I wanted to give you a heads up on what to expect and know before shopping for your dream dress.

Covid 19 Precautions and Rules

Verify with the dress shop on their updated Covid-19 rules. As of right now locally, here in Houston, most establishments only allow up to 2 guest in addition to the bride. Everyone must wear masks at all times while inside the building. Most places are also requiring an appointment be set in order to try on dresses.

Know Your Budget

You should know your financial limits before entering a bridal salon. It will help keep everyone’s feeling in check.

Be Open to Different Styles

Keep your options and your mind open, you may just surprise yourself! You think you want that mermaid dress but after trying it on you realize you don’t like the shape of the dress on your body. And guess what? That is ok. An a-line will fit your physique better.

Keep Wedding Location in Mind

You will need to think about your venue. How long is the walk from the bridal suite to the ceremony, to the reception. Is it too long of a walk or too many stairs that you are so uncomfortable walking to and from or even down the aisle in a heavy dress. You may want to go with a lighter dress. So remember to take this into consideration when looking at your options.

Trust Your Instincts

It is extremely difficult when your family/friends don’t like what you are absolutely in love with. However, you never want to look back and regret not getting what you wanted to wear because someone thought lace was ugly and rather you chose a beaded dress, but deep in your heart you knew you wanted a laced dress. I have had some brides go alone for this reason. They preferred nobody to weigh in on their opinion of which dress they picked. It’s ok to say yes to YOUR dress and stop shopping!

Leave Negative People at Home

It’s a happy day and time. You don’t want to involve any negative Nancy’s in your fun filled day. Leave them at home and invite them to another task that's not as big.

Leave Room in The Budget for Extras

When you buy a dress, a lot of times it requires alterations, which is not included in the price of the dress. Also, if you want to add some extra finishing touches to the dress those additions are an additional fee. Things to think about extra beading, longer trains, headpiece/veil.
